The Peace Corps/Localise is an organisation of young people aged 14yrs and upwards, caring in the community by local voluntary action. it was founded in 1972 to effect positive change, both in its members and in the community, through the training, education and personal development of its members. Members come together to address the needs of their community and to develop services which aim to meet these needs. Peace Corps/Localise also offers a democratic structure through which young people can take on leadership roles in their community. In this way it provides an opportunity for personal growth and development.
Peace Corps/Localise has a great deal to offer the young people who become involved in its work.

Corps members work together in small teams or 'units'. Each unit takes on a particular type of work to meet the community's needs. The units vary from Peace Corps to Peace Corps depending on the talents of the members and the needs of the community. There is no end to the amount of units that can be set up, once the members have the time to do the work.
